2D environment 3D revisit

So awhile ago, I did this photoshop painting of a catacombs inspired by a trip to the Natural Bridge Caverns

Heres that cavern from awhile back in with some upgrades.  First, i laid out a few simple formations in 3dsMax

Then it was over to maya to texture and light

Finally, I rendered all of the formations in their own targa file so i could re-size and position them in the composition in Photoshop
A photo filter and some color adjustments later, we have a cold, wet catacombs.  yay ^^

3d character modeling demo reel

A couple of these models should be familiar, as it isnt their first time appearing on this blog, but I figured id upload this anyways since...yeah...demo reel and whatnot.

Fun with nostalgia

So heres an animation that my classmate Pamela Mills and I made.  I really enjoyed getting to work with Pam and she is such a supportive and positive individual that I am sure she is really going to thrive in this industry, if not anything else, because she is such a joy to work with.  I heart her face.  Srsly.

End of year finals

So, its the New Year. Woots.  Heres a render of my Character Modeling final. This is my first attempt at rigging in Max and I have to say....wasnt nearly as hard as I thought it was gonna be...which is awesome...

More finals from last quarter to come, Im in the middle of hardware upgrades so bear with me folks.

In other news, I finally gave DC Universe Online a shot....and its badass...Xocarr RAWR!!!

No, seriously...acrobat transport makes the entire Universe a jungle gym...its comic book immersion on a level of fun I thought Id left behind at the age of 12. I only regret that I dont have a computer capable of running it on max settings. ...soon,tho....soon...

Character Modeling Progress

So here is my final scarecrow model.  I think he came out looking more like Jeffery (referred to as "the blob" here) so maybe in the future, we will see him refined again to look more like the kindhearted and slow minded alien with the arboreal friend.  For now, he is a Scarecrow with dreams of Gladiatordom.  Go on, scarecrow dude...go on....

Back to the character modeling again

This time I'll try to keep a bit more in the way of process posts in this series of character models.  The first is one of a scarecrow for my character modeling class who will also star in my midterm project for materials and lighting.  I got a feeling this quarter isnt going to feel nearly as relaxing as the last, but Im sort of fine with that, really.  On to the character sketches! I wanted to go with more of a tank-y build since most scarecrows are so spindly-type of creepy.  He will have another variation with a jack-o-lantern for a head, but that is gonna have to be a post for another day.  Im still spending a fair amount of my online time pushing the Occupy Together movement, so soon Ill have something to post for that as well.  Take care, darklings.
